On the occasion of the annual Partner Meeting, which was held in Brussels this year, System Alliance Europe has marked its first 5 years of cooperation.
What started with 16 founding partners from 5 countries back in 2005, evolved into a solid international network of 47 partners with 166 branches spread over 23 European countries. The idea behind the cooperation’s establishment was to connect and reinforce some of Europe’s leading medium-sized logistics companies and serve the market with a service quality that is unmatched in international transport. At the meeting in Brussels the partners reflected on the success of the past 5 years, especially in the field of dispatch and delivery quality.
New Chairman and Vice Chairman
Mr. Wolfgang Niessner, Chief Executive Officer of Gebrüder Weiss Gesellschaft m.b.H, was voted new Chairman to replace Mr. Jean Schmitt, owner of Groupe Heppner, who retired from the position after serving the maximum allowable term of four years. Mr. Michael Stephenson, Joint Managing Director of Davies Turner & Co Ltd, was voted Vice Chairman of the System Alliance Europe Partnership GbR.
Business figures 2009
In spite of the economic crisis, the transport volume and tonnage remained stable. The total transport volume in Europe amounted to 11.7 million consignments, weighing a total of 10.4 million tons. In 2009, the network partners achieved a total turnover of 8.7 billion Euros generated by a combined staff of over 49,000.
